Arenal Volcano Hike
Hike through tropical rainforest
Your guide will pick you up at the hotel where you’ll begin a 15 minute ride to the far west side of Arenal Volcano to a private refuge where your hike will begin. The hike last about an hour and a half and takes you through dense tropical rainforest with fantastic views of the colossal Arenal Volcano. You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who will explain you everything about the volcano’s formation, eruption and the area’s eco-system.
If you’re lucky you’ll encounter a wide variety of animals such as monkeys, sloths and toucans and your certified bilingual naturalist guide will point-out indigenous rain forest plants and tell you about their medicinal properties.
Arenal Volcano observation point
After the hike you’ll be taken to an observation point where you will have the best possible views of the volcano and the lava flow. Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, constantly rumbling and erupting. With a little luck, you can expect to see a dazzling firework display as the lava rolls down the side of the volcano.
If you choose the afternoon tour (recommended) you’ll be able to fully appreciate the lava’s firey red glow and it’s immense presence as the sounds of the rainforest surround you. Your tour can end here or you can continue to one of the local hot springs for dinner and a chance to relax in the magical thermal waters. Tour includes: Door to door minivan A/C services, certified bilingual guide, and beverages.
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes or Hiking Shoes, rain coat, swimming – suit, binoculars, camera and insect repellent.
