Love horses?  Travel between the Arenal Volcano and Monteverde the old fashioned way, via horseback! 
An incredible way to get between these two popular destinations, this horseback ride is recommended for horse lovers and adventurers of all levels.

Your guides will take a very scenic and safe trail along the Arenal Lake which offers fantastic views of the active Arenal Volcano as well as mountains covered with lush tropical rainforest.  We recommend only tour operators that promote safe responsible tourism and take good care of their horses.  The ride we promote takes visitors along the south shore of the Arenal Lake and does not involve riding up or down the steep mountain to Monteverde, which we consider unsafe and unfair on the horses.
This unique horseback tour includes healthy, well-cared for horses and knowledgeable guides. The tour begins with transportation to the Lake Arenal dam, where you’ll take a boat ride across Lake Arenal to the town of El Castillo and then begin a beautiful day of riding along Lake Arenal, with a stop for a tropical fruit break.

The lake trail is safe all year-round, plus recommend companies that have excellently-cared-for-horses – guaranteed!  After riding, you’ll then travel for 1 hour by ground transportation to Monteverde and your luggage is transported directly to your Monteverde hotel.

What to wear: For safety and comfort, please bring secure shoes and long pants, sunscreen, any personal medicine you may require, such as allergy pills, etc. Please don’t bring valuables such as passports or expensive jewelry.
